She actually behaved herself!<br /><br /></div><br />Well, we're back from our trip! It was was a lot of fun and a whirlwind trip so by the end of it we were ready for a break (especially after the last stretch was 42 hrs long). We saw a lot of places, met a lot of people, tried new foods and were so well loved and taken care of by our friends. Miriam did much better than we ever expected. She was a trooper and put up with a lot of impromptu outings. She's such a socialite that as long as there was someone who would pay attention to her, she would be happy no matter how tired and grumpy.<br />There were a few adventures here and there but it wasn't until we got back to Chicago that our bags decided to stay in Amsterdam. We've gotten one bag and our stroller back but there's still one missing in action. ugh! Here are a few pictures of us... we ended up with pictures from the last half of our trip. The first part we burned onto a cd and that got lost with our bag. David is graduating from Wheaton's graduate program on May 5th and we decided to put our things into storage for the summer since we're planning a 5 week trip to Europe. We'll be visiting Turkey, Greece, Albania, Italy, France and Spain! David is still busy focusing on his papers, reading assignments, Greek, and of course hanging out with us! Miriam is now 5 1/2 months old and we decided that she was ready for some grown up food since she kept eyeing ours all the time and trying to take a swat at our plates whenever she got close enough. So far she's tried banana, sweet potato and squash. yummm! I'm pretty sure more gets on her bib than down her throat but at least she enjoys herself!<br />Today I tried out my culinary skills and made <span style="FONT-STYLE: italic">french chocolate cake</span> for our neighborhood group dinner. I must say that the thought of traveling with a fussy 4 month old made us wonder if it would be a vacation at all. But it turns out that Miriam behaved much better than we ever expected.<br />This year we decided to do something a little different than our normal Christmas celebrations. The week before Christmas we flew down to Florida to visit some of David's relatives and from there took a 4 day cruise to the Bahamas. We spent our days eating like kings (I think I had a dessert with almost every meal except breakfast!), walking around the deck on the ship, hanging out in the jacuzzi, and my favorite part... snorkeling on a private island. It was my first time and David and I enjoyed exploring coral reefs while grandma hung out with Miriam. It was good to spend time with the whole family since Mark lives in California and David's parents and Nathan (younger brother) are in Ohio.<br />Christmas day we spent in Ohio and all came down with bad colds but we're almost done recuperating. It's good to have that over with since David starts his last semester at Wheaton on Jan. 8th. We are relieved to be at the end of his grad program as having a baby at home makes it a little harder to get anything accomplished.<br />Happy New Year to everyone.... Feliz An~o Nuevo.
